About the event
COOS, with a collaboration of the dynamic spoken word artist Amber Rose Johnson, teamed up to create a new work for spoken word and chamber ensemble inspired by the abolitionist and civil rights movements. Modernized text from activists and original poetry rubbed elbows with music inspired by slave songs, the civil war era, as well as civil rights, gospel and contemporary classical music.
