Castle of our Skins is excited to announce the launch of our 4th Annual Black Student Union Intercollegiate Fellowship, and this year, we’re embracing the theme of Renaissance. For Black music students from Greater Boston-area conservatories and music schools, this is an opportunity to join a powerful network of peers, engage artistically with a collaborative cohort, and explore what it means to create, innovate, and thrive in a new era of Black artistry.
What is the Fellowship About?
The BSU Intercollegiate Fellowship is designed to support and elevate Black student-musicians from institutions like the Longy School of Music, Boston Conservatory at Berklee, New England Conservatory, Berklee College of Music, and Boston University. As a fellow, you'll have access to resources and experiences that will shape your artistry and career while deepening your connection to the Black musical community.
Why Renaissance?
This year’s theme is inspired by the idea of rebirth, revival, and reimagination—a celebration of the continued evolution of Black art and culture. Through the lens of Renaissance, fellows will create and explore new works, experiment with different forms of expression, and redefine what it means to be an artist today. This fellowship invites you to explore how your music reflects your identity, your history, and the world you want to build.
What You’ll Experience:
Fellowship & Networking: Connect with Black student-musicians across Boston's musical institutions and build a network that will last beyond the fellowship.
Artistic Collaboration: Work closely with a cohort of talented peers to create a musical performance that speaks to your lived experiences and creative vision.
Creative Agency: Develop projects that reflect your voice as an artist
